"Once I started researching Skyresponse; what they do, what their drivers were, how and why they could fit in the current UK Market within the new digital world - I knew this was a company that I would be honoured and privileged to be part of."
What is your background?
For many years I worked within a professional working environment predominantly office based. The positions that I gained most experience and enjoyment from were the technical and project management positions working in the housing industry and assistive technology sector. As the years passed, I realised I enjoyed the business aspect, organising, marketing, project work and viewing the company from a business’s perspective rather than an employee. Although, I had experience with business processes I didn’t have the qualifications to back up my experience or the opportunity to expand my knowledge. This is where my journey started to obtain a degree in Business Management at the Open University and how better to do this, part-time and working in the business environment, adding value to a company and for my role to contribute towards my learning development.
How did your journey with Skyresponse begin?
With a call from a CEO that I use to work for, they asked if I wouldn’t mind being put forward for an employment opportunity for an exciting innovative company that is looking to expand into the UK Market.
What was it with Skyresponse that caught your interest?
Once I started researching Skyresponse; what they do, what their drivers were, how and why they could fit in the current UK Market within the new digital world – I knew this was a company that I would be honoured and privileged to be part of. There is a clear need for an open, IoT interoperable, 100% digital cloud-based platform especially, in the telecare/telehealth, assistive technology sector, an area that I am passionate about and can offer a good input to.
In what way has Skyresponse impressed you?
The openness to business and it’s offering of the platform. A truly innovative and adaptable approach to future proofing Alarm Response Centres and Assistive Technology. The way in which Technology has advanced from ten years ago is almost unrecognisable and many companies and people are struggling to keep up with the pace however, Skyresponse have a solution to the ever-increasing problem.
Describe Skyresponse as a workplace…
Skyresponse is a transparent and honest place to work. I have been welcomed with open arms, have support at every turn and finally I am working for a company that live by its Culture and Values. Although I work in another country it doesn’t feel like it, I have great communication with all departments on a regular basis and am even invited to ‘fika’, a down time for colleagues to chat and get to know each other.
What is the key to a good customer relationship?
Communication is key, this covers so many different aspects, one important element of communication is active listening, understanding your customers’ needs and how you can support their requirements with a solution along with, honesty, openness and a personal approach.
What do you contribute to your team?
A smile every day! Good communication, support and knowledge of the UK housing and assistive technology sectors. Ownership of tasks, a critical thinking and a proactive approach to my work. In addition, I am always keen to progress with my learning and professional development needs.
When you are not working, what do you do?
Spend time with my family, friends and animals. Go out for day trips on the back of the Motorbike. I watch many documentaries mainly about criminology from a psychological perspective and marine life as I am extremely interested in Sharks. I am also a keen box set viewer, Game of Thrones, Curb your enthusiasm and historical/true life dramas.
