Interview with Gustav Hansson, Junior Software Developer

"Skyresponse has impressed me in the genuine care my colleagues put into their work and the focus everyone has on creating high quality solution to the problems that appear."

What is your background?
I have always had a big curiosity around computers, and I’ve spent a lot of time playing video games growing up. This curiosity turned me onto the path of programming at the age of 12 when I wanted to know how the games I was playing was made. This later led me to do a few courses on programming at school and that’s when I knew that I wanted to work as a developer. A few years later I started studying Computer Science and Engineering at Luleå University of Technology where I got my master’s degree in 2021.

How did your journey with Skyresponse begin?
I first heard about Skyresponse from a friend who worked here, and I heard a lot of good things about it as a workplace. A couple of years later when I was doing my master’s thesis, I saw an ad where they were looking for a developer and I immediately thought that this would be a good and interesting place to grow as a developer.

What was it with Skyresponse that caught your interest?
That it is a relatively small company with a big vision, working on an important product that can improve people’s everyday life.

In what way has Skyresponse impressed you?
The genuine care my colleagues put into their work and the focus everyone has on creating high quality solution to the problems that appear.

Describe Skyresponse as a workplace…
Even though I started in the middle of the pandemic and solely worked from home the first four months I immediately felt like I was a part of the team. Now, when we move more and more back to the office that feeling has only grown stronger.

The work itself is often very varied and challenging, forcing me as a developer to think in new ways to solve the tasks and keep me on my toes. This is great for my own development, but it can be extremely hard sometimes and when that happens it’s great to know that I am surrounded by a team that always have my back.

What is the key to a good customer relationship?
As in all relationships the most important part is good communication. We live in a rapidly changing world and good communication at all levels is vital to ensure a quality product that meets the customers need.

What do you contribute to your team?
A helping hand to anyone that needs one. I’m always keen on helping in any way I can, even if it is just being a head to bounce ideas off.

When you are not working, what do you do?
A big part of my free time consists of exercising, a lot of time is spent on skis and in the climbing gym, however, the majority is spent in running shoes with a few ultra-marathons in sight. I also enjoy cooking a lot, especially in the company of friends and family!
